At the opening of CAVAME-d 2026, Daniel Chapo launched Mozambique Mining and Energy Week and defended the implementation of investment commitments valued at around 4.2 billion dollars.
Nacala, 21 October 2026 – The President of the Republic, Daniel Francisco Chapo, defended in Nacala-Porto, Nampula province, the acceleration of the local transformation of mineral and energy resources to generate employment, increase the participation of national companies and boost the industrialization of Mozambique.
Acting in the official opening of the first edition of the Conference on Addition of Value to Available Mineral and Energy Resources (CAVAME-d), the Head of State stressed that the country should retain a greater share of the value of its resources, through the development of national industries and suppliers, with effective opportunities for young people and women.
To make this transformation possible, it pointed out as priorities the availability of energy at competitive prices, water and logistics infrastructure, combined with the simplification of licensing and legal certainty. In this context, he highlighted the potential of Nacala, whose port, airport, rail and road infrastructure associated with the Special Economic Zone and the new industrial park, offer strategic conditions to attract investments.
On the occasion, Daniel Chapo launched Mozambique Mining and Energy Week, an annual platform based in Nacala, aimed at bringing the government, investors, companies, financial institutions and academia closer together to promote investment, innovation and sustainable development of value chains. The initiative will bring together three complementary events, namely the CAVAME-d, the Conference on Logistics and Aviation for the Oil & Gas and Mining Industry and the annual Nampula Gem Fair (FAGENA).
The official opening ceremony of CAVANCE-d was also marked by the signing of 11 memorandums of understanding and terms of commitment, valued at around 4.2 billion US dollars. The President of the Republic argued that these commitments should be translated into technically structured projects with qualified investors, financing solutions, defined deadlines and effective national participation, subject to monitoring of their implementation before the following edition.
The Head of State also urged public institutions to facilitate investment, the financial sector to develop appropriate solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises and universities to guide research to the needs of industry, ensuring environmental protection and benefits for communities.
It should be noted that the INP, Oil Regulatory Authority, participated in the panel "The Role of National Institutions and Companies in the Implementation of Valo Addition ProjectsR", held on 19 October, through its PCA, Nazário Bangalane, which advocated greater access of national companies to natural gas to stimulate industrialisation and competitiveness.
Organized by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, CAVAME-d runs from 19 to 24 October in Nacala-Porto, Nampula Province.
