The Rovuma Basin, located on the east coast of Africa, emerged as a strategic area for researching offshore energy resources. Its deep, resource-rich waters have attracted the attention of energy companies around the world. Down are listed the areas of grant of research and productioned in the Rovuma Sedimentary Basin, where the activity of research and productioned hydrocarbon is in progress or planned.

The A5-A concession area is the result of the public tender launched in October 2014 for the granting of areas for the Research and Production of Hydrocarbons in Mozambique. Eni Mozambico S.p.A., Sasol Petroleum Mozambique Exploration Lda. and National Hydrocarbon Company, E.P (ENH, EP), they were awarded the Offshore Angoche A5-A area whose extension is 4.612 km2, located in the maritime part of the Republic of Mozambique. The Oil Research and Production Grant Agreement (CCPP) was signed in October 2018, having as effective date 1 January 2019 ; The area is operated by ENI Mozambico S.p.A. with 49.5% participations and the partners to Qatar Energy (25.5%), Sasol Petroleum (10%) and ENH, E.P. (15%).
